Today 1 USD is equal to almost 1 Canadian Dollar (CAD). Check yourself at Yahoo Finance. What is happening. USD is going down day by day…
In the last 5 years USD is continuously dropping from 1.6 CAD to today approximately 1CAD. Obviously it means that Canada economy is performing better as compared to United States. What did you do America?????

What did the Canadians do? Well I guess the question is rather what the U.S. have been doing. (1) They have been burning billions of dollars every year on stupid wars, and (2) they have for decades pretended to have more money than they actually had, getting themselves mortgages which they could actually never afford.
The USD has lost not only against the CAD, it has lost in comparison to ANY other major currency.

USA war on terrorism is spending billions on war they can not win.
have you heard Terrorism is war for the poor and War is terrorism for the rich (USA WAS PRIOR
TO THE WAR),
US needs to look after their own citizens first before spending billions for war that only
certain group of people benefit. Companies that make weapons of war ,those billions of dollar
transfered to countries that are known to corruption, including Afganistan’s H. KARZAI ..
They are smarter than US, we dont know that Billions of dollar is funding corruption in other
countries and also funding terrorism,. Dirty Politics.
HAVE YOU EVER QUESTIONED
1. Why comunist country such as China can do better than US ,financially?
2. Why USA borrowed Trillions of dollar from China ?
3. How long does it take to find Bin Laden ? Why they have not find him? They know where he is.
PERHAPS AMERICAN DEMOCRACY IS FLAWED.MANY OF AMERICAN SENIOR CITIZENS CAN
NOT AFFORD LIVING IN THE USA, THEY ARE TAXED TO DEATH.
WE KNOW OF OUR NEIGHBORS IN FLORIDA THAT TOLD US THEIR RETIREMENT SAVINGS
HAS DEPLETED BY $ 75.000 to $ 200000 ,now US seniors at 60 yrs+ old have to stay working
and pay $375 to $ 450 a month in health care per person. Their own goverment robbed them blind.
Beware if you are US citizens that have Swiss bank accounts ,US goverment wants your money
to support their reckless habit of spending and spend more money.
Well you will be the judge weather American democracy can be used as a role model.

Well, not to mention America kept buying Canada’s oil, driving our dollar up.
Now that oil prices are crashing, so is the Canadian dollar.

The Canadian economy is not “better run” than the U.S.
It’s the price of oil, plain and simple that dictates our simple Canadian raw material economy, not our superior knowledge, prudence or as Eric Bodden says “burning billions of dollars every year on stupid wars”.
As a Canadian from the West, I can only say, grow up Canada, you can’t rely on pulp, paper and oil forever.

its cus canadian dolar is liked to oil price since canada supplies oil. thats y now that oil is cheap again the CAD dropped

The Americans spending billions on the war is causing the American dollar to drop, Bodden is correct.

I am sure that burning up billions of dollars per year “redistributing wealth” the way communists do hasn’t had anything to do with the dollar plummeting in value worldwide. Wasting 60 cents of every dollar in administrating the redistribution of wealth. I’d like that gig myself. Give me $100, and I’ll make sure the poor get $40. That’s not the way I run my homeless shelter.
Let’s try drilling our own oil for a few years before we give all our money to terrorists in Iraq and Iran. Clearly, Eric prefers Saddam’s rape rooms over Iraqi freedom. He must be one open-minded liberal. Conservatives officially own the banner of freedom, now that liberals will be stealing your wealth for the next 4 years.
Eric, stop lying about the war now, and try to read about the war. OK buddy?

All I ask is for people to have a little common sense before posting stupid blogs. Because the USD (was) equal to the CAD doesn’t mean “Obviously it means that Canada economy is performing better as compared to United States.”
The USD is stronger now against the CAD than it was when our stock market was at 14,000. The Canadians run off a completely separate government and their dollar fluctuates much, much more than the USD. The CAD has it ups, and it has it’s downs.
http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=USDCAD=X#symbol=USDCAD=X;range=1y is the last one year. So you would argue that it’s obvious the US economy is now performing better than the Canadian economy? Please, understand BASIC economics before blogging about it.

@Frank:
What are you trying to say? I couldn’t understand your concern about the article.
BTW, you might have read it now, but it was published long back in 2007 which is like 2 years back.
And to your point it should not be a concern comparing two currencies at all. That’s how people find out which currency is better, is it USD everyone seems to want more, or is it INR, YEN, AUD and may be CAD.
I am happy you dropped by this blog anyway.
Thanks
Anurag

US voted for Bush. Canada didn’t.
